We are now holding the Treasure Hunt on Sunday 12th September.
The aim is to have a social ride of about 20 miles answering questions and collecting items on a circular ride from the club.
It is an opportunity to ride with friends who normally ride in a different group from yourselves.
There will also be a shorter ride of about 10 miles also answering questions and collecting items for those who do not wish to ride the full 20 miles.
Marks will be awarded for correct answers and correct items collected.
You will not need to leave the road to answer any questions. i.e. you will not have to look over a gate into a field.
Teams should be made up of 3 or 4 riders, one of whom must have a computer to measure the distance travelled in miles. Each team must also have a rider with a mobile phone. Bringing a pen might also be useful!
IT IS NOT A RACE, simply a social ride with a difference. Splendid prizes will be awarded at the club for first, second and last in each event.
Teams will set off at 3 minute intervals from the club and each team will have directions to be followed and a list of questions to be answered. Each team will also have a sealed envelope with directions to be taken if they get lost or think that they have got lost. The questions are in the order that you ride and both routes are regularly cycled by BG CG so getting off route should not be an issue. If you open or lose the sealed envelope a points penalty will be deducted from your score.
As we ride at different speeds you may catch up the team in front of you. If you do please give them a head start. It will be more enjoyable to answer the questions by yourselves than to simply follow another group stopping where they do.
You may have to “think outside the box” to answer some of the questions. The tie break will decided by miles travelled and if still tied by answering some cycling based questions.
Please meet up with your team and be ready to start at 14:00pm. If 14:00 is too early you can start at 15:00. (It will take time to set groups off at intervals). If you have not been able to raise a team we can arrange them on the day.
Everyone should be back by 16:30 for prizes, bragging rights and a social get together at the club. The bar will open early to accommodate us!
